Since the effective lifting of international sanctions against Iran in January 2016, foreign companies have been competing on Iranian contracts, notably for aircraft sales. Airbus and Boeing already won big deals with Irianian airlines. The deals are historic for Iran to renovate the country’s aircraft fleets after long time sanctions.

Specifically, Airbus attracted a mix of firm orders and MoUs for 173 aircrafts with a collective deal value of tens of billions of dollars; Boeing had accrued orders for 110 planes and options for 30 planes. Meanwhile, the smaller turboprop-maker ATR attracted orders for 20 aircrafts and options for 20 aircrafts. Till early October, 3 Airbus planes have been delivered and ATR has delivered 6 aircrafts to Iran Air. Other smaller aircraft manufacturers like Embraer, Bombardier, Sukhoi and Mitsubishi are still in the process of talking with potential buyers.

For the revamp of aviation infrustruture, at least 27 existing airports will be undergoing rehabilitation and refurbishment that will reignite Iran’s aviation industry. A number of MoUs have been signed with various international organisations to attract more investors to develop the country’s airports.

IAC 2017 ended up with a visit to Iran Air and the delegation were well received by DMD and two General Directors of Engineering and Maintenance Department. IAC 2018 will be more successful, sever as your gateway to the Iranian aviation industry, and offer you an unparalleled look into the opportunities and potentials.
