The Next Gen Parking Management Summit is being held in Dubai, UAE with a view to address the increasingly dire state of the parking situation in the middle eastern region due to the increase of expatriates working in this region as compared to before.
19th April 2017: The Next Gen Parking Management Summit event took off today at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Dubai, UAE. This event is focused at bringing together best brains, latest parking innovation, qualified decision makers, government officials & parking experts to incorporate the latest parking technology in existing and future mega projects.
The event commenced with highlighting the government's future plans and initiatives for the region so as to ease the parking woes of the region and why making parking a real part of intelligent transportation is more a necessity than an option for the growth and planning strategies of the region.
This was followed by an exclusive panel discussion on the subject “Future Of Parking With Autonomous Vehicles”. The panelists for this discussion included Martin Tillman from AECOM -USA, Director Transport Planning, Faheem Gill from Dashroad-UAE, Founder, Richard Goodwin from Fybr – USA, COO along with Jukka Riivari from Leanpark, CEO. The panelists discussed topics relating to the changes needed to implement the next gen parking systems and understanding of future projects that may affect the parking industry.
Richard Goodwin, CEO, Fyber-USA highlighted the how Internet of things can be applied to parking & integrated transport and how safe are advanced technologies in parking management. Zarak Ali, Massa Global – UAE, Development Director spoke on the value of automated parking in projects in the region.Fady Sokhon from G.I. Tech – UAE, General Manager gave an introduction on GI Tech.Jukka Riivari, CEO, Leanpark concluded the day with a presentation on “Serving more customers with automated parking.
The second day of the event will feature presentations with a futuristic viewpoint about parking management with topics such as the Security Threats in Smart Parking &Transportation by Omar Al Barghouthi, Security Services Leader, IBM -UAE followed by a presentation on Case Study: Future of Transport and Parking by Omar Al-Battaineh, Transport Planner Associate, Arup along with an address from Mohamed Hediya, Manager Technology Innovation, Majid Al Futtaim – UAE on the concept of Smart Place Management and Using Big Data, Analytics and Data Science to Drive Parking Profitability by Ajay Rathi, CIO, Meeras which will be a few of topics discussed through the day.
According to Andrew Rippo, Senior Consultant, Nexgen Group – UAE, “Technology can enhance and optimize the use of physical space, such as in parking. to do so, key enablers need to be in place, in essence, digital infrastructure to complement the physical. critical to these is identity and trustful exchange, which is why Dubai is focusing on block chain as infrastructure for these elements. added to this the ability of artificial intelligence to help provide dynamic parking infrastructure.” Mr Rippo will also be speaking about the concept of Intelligent Parking Systems in Smart Cities as the concluding presentation of the event.
