Manama, Bahrain (17 July, 2011): VIVA announced today the launch of its latest value-added content service, Zajil Press, which pushes the day's local breaking news to customers' handsets via SMS. As a special launch promotion, customers who sign up for the service this July will receive it free of charge for 30 days.
Zajil Press is a local news channel that has partnered with VIVA to keep customers up to date with the latest Bahrain news in fields ranging from business to government to sports. Subscribers receive an SMS or two every morning with the day's press headlines, as well as breaking news updates throughout the day. The eight services offered include English and Arabic general news or the more specialized channels of business, sports, politics, events, obituaries, and religion.
"We believe our partnership with VIVA will offer customers a broad range of options to benefit from an instant news service of high quality and credibility which has been achieved by the Zajil Press team through years of experience," said Zajil Press director Jamal Al Osairi.
VIVA chief commercial officer Andrew Hanna added, "This is an indispensible service for all those who want to stay abreast of the day's events as they happen."
To activate the service, just SMS the desired channel's number to 88055. Users may text '1' for Zajil Local (Arabic language news), '2' for Zajil English, '3' for Zajil Business, '4' for Zajil Sport, '5' for Zajil Parliament, '6' for Zajil Event, '7' for Zajil Islam and '8' for Zajil Wfeyat (obituaries).
Users can subscribe to as many of the eight news channels offered as they like, and will be charged 20 fils per SMS for the first five texts received every day. Any subsequent texts are free of charge.
