Istanbul, Turkey 15 December, 2011 (MySolutionInfo): Global travel services provider and Galileo operator Travelport had the honour of receiving the award for Best Global Distribution System (GDS) at this year’s SKALITE Awards, often referred to as the Oscars of the Turkish travel industry.

Presented by SKAL International Istanbul, the prestigious SKALITE ‘Quality in Tourism’ Awards recognise those who are raising the standard of Turkey’s travel and tourism offering. Voted by more than 900 members, the awards were attended by leaders representing various facets of the industry.

The accolades were the result of Travelport’s unwavering commitment to the travel trade in Turkey, where the GDS provider and distribution partner Galileo Turkey have rolled-out a host of innovative travel technology solutions over the past year that have helped travel agents increase their productivity.

Galileo Turkey Country Manager Ece Bayar proudly accepted the award at the gala event, which was also attended by Turkish Airlines CIO Adnan Metin, Travelport’s MEA President and Managing Director Rabih Saab, Travelport Commercial Director Jennifer D’Souza, and the Galileo Turkey team.

“This is a really exciting time for Travelport and we are extremely proud to be recognized by the Turkish travel industry, which has always been ahead of the curb and quick to adopt the most innovative technology solutions. It is an honour to receive an award from such a discerning group,” beamed Saab.
