Injazat underscores importance of Business Continuity Planning for O&G sector at the ICT for Oil & Gas Forum

Injazat Data Systems, the leading information technology and business process managed services provider in the UAE, discussed key business-driven information and communications technology (ICT) strategies around Business Continuity Planning (BCP) during the ICT for Oil & Gas Forum which took place recently at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.

Held under the patronage of H.E. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy, the Forum convened senior information and communications technology (ICT) executives to discuss major issues faced by the Oil & Gas (O&G) sector and how technology can address them.

"No one is immune from a disaster. Given this uncertainty businesses need to prepare themselves for any type, size and duration of disruption. They need to have a strong Business Continuity Management framework in place built around the business and its critical processes. We at Injazat emphasize to our clients that there are no shortcuts to analyzing and enhancing their readiness and that business requirements should drive disaster recovery schemes and not the other way around," said Gregory Trinh, Head of Consulting Services at Injazat Data Systems.

Drawing from experiences in global incidents such as the 1998 and 2006 Auckland power outages, the World Trade Center bombing and the BP oil spill, Injazat Consulting Services highlighted the need for O&G entities to address Business Continuity Planning within their corporate strategies and demonstrated how to conduct a robust Business Impact Analysis (BIA). Injazat also shared how his organization it is able to measure the BCP maturity level of any organization that has a mandate to address BCP.

Also speaking at the Forum, Senior BCP Consultant Chris Bester provided valuable insights as he outlined how Injazat's BCM and Disaster Recovery programme strictly adheres to the British BS25999 standard which addresses the six key elements of BCM and is considered the de-facto international benchmark for enterprise BCM before providing the business case for engaging in a BIA study leading to a business-driven Disaster Recovery Strategy.

Injazat Consulting Services develops solutions that span various technologies to cover all aspects of Business Continuity Planning, from probable financial impact and recovery time frames to technology dependencies. Injazat delivers world-class IT solutions to more than 50,000 public and private sectors end-users. Injazat is the owner and operator of the first and only design-certified Tier IV data center in the Middle East.
